One of the things I love about the photography community is the tight network of friends you can make along the way. Last September, I attended a Boheme Workshop in Greece, and one of the creators/teachers was the fabulous Tahnee (of Celsia Floral and Once Wed fame). It’s funny because while we met in Greece, Tahnee is actually from Australia, but lives in Canada, and now we got to meet up for a photo shoot in Hawaii. Truly global friends! :)

This past June, Tahnee and her family happened to be making a trip to Oahu for her mom’s birthday, so we met up for a little photo shoot on the beach!

Tahnee’s one of those lovely people who’s so warm and welcoming, happily chatting it up with you and making you feel like you’ve been friends for years even if you’ve only just met. And she’s incredibly talented! From floral designer to social media genius, she wears a lot of hats in the wedding world. Tahnee’s husband Jono is her perfect match — smiling, silly, and personable. These two together are a photographer’s dream… During our session, they just laughed and played, allowing me to simply act as a fly-on-the-wall and shoot.

So glad to know these folks ♡

Oahu, Hawaii Elopement Photography: C + J Tie The Knot

These two newlyweds came all the way from Canada to celebrate their (secret) elopement, and I was lucky enough to document a part of their international love story here in Hawaii.

C & J are high school sweethearts whose love story spans over a decade, and I don’t know about you, but I think such a beautiful love story deserves a beautiful back drop :) With that in mind, we headed to the southern tip of Oahu, shooting their sunset elopement photos at two picturesque spots near Honolulu: one was a unique set of cliffs on the edge of the ocean with a swirling rock formation, and the second was your classic Hawaiian beach, complete with soft white sand and deep black volcanic rocks creating little tide pools.

Every time I look at C & J’s photos I swoon. It’s so easy to see the deep connection that these two have and I wanted to make sure to translate that love into their photos ♡

If you’re looking for an elopement photographer on Oahu, Hawaii, I’d love to chat about photographing you and your sweetheart! Whether you’re planning a large destination wedding or an intimate elopement, contact me and let’s talk about your love story :)

Hawaii Newborn Photography Sneak Peek: One-Week-Old Meleana | Lanikai Beach, Hawaii

Oahu, Hawaii newborn photography at Lanikai Beach

Sweet little Meleana was just a few days old when we shot a collection of love-filled photos at Lanikai beach last weekend. We met on the sand just after sunrise — the light was gorgeous and the family was even lovelier, making for some beautiful portraits. I absolutely cannot wait to share the rest of the images here soon!

And can I just say: I have the best job in the whole wide world. Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that I’ve always loved being around babies. So getting to document such new life and such pure love is like a dream come true for me…

What can I say about this beautiful wedding by the sea…all I know is that I shot it in such a stunning place with such lovely people, and it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. And now I’m proud to say that Bridal Musings has included this shoot in their collection of published weddings and made the shoot that much more special! Check out the full feature here!

This ethereal castle wedding was part of Boheme Workshops in southern Greece and was created with the Greek goddess Mnemosyne in mind — the goddess of memory and remembrance.

We shot at the hauntingly beautiful Methoni Castle, and inspired by the long history of the venue, the workshop creators and I aimed for the photos to invoke memories, as if we were catching a glimpse of the stories that once took place between those ancient castle walls.

Our bride’s makeup was kept soft and romantic, while her nearly sheer gown made her seem almost ghostlike as the delicate train blew in the wind.

One of my favorite details: the three-tier cake had breathy watercolor strokes painted on – a design element that was echoed in the gentle but sweeping calligraphy of the invitations.

Isn’t it all just to die for?? ♡

For this real couple’s shoot at the recent Boheme Workshop in Messinia, Greece we had two words in mind: Intimacy and simplicity. I wanted to show that engagement photography can be romantic and sexy without being too over the top. And today I’m so honored to have this shoot featured over at the international wedding blog, Hochzeitsguide!

Check out the full post here.

Inspired by both Goddess Gaia, the Greek goddess of the earth and devotion, and Goddess Eros, the goddess of love, we chose to cut out the frills and focus solely on the authentic connection that Alex and Catherine — a global couple with roots in Romania and Greece — have for each other.

Alex and Catherine have so much natural, subtle chemistry. You could see it in the way they moved together: he would move his hips into hers as they embraced, she would reach for his hand as they walked, or (when they thought I wasn’t looking) they’d snuggle close and whisper, smiling to each other as they did. It was such a joy to photograph them.

I hope this shoot inspires other madly-in-love couples to trust that their love alone often makes the best photographs.

Last September, I had the incredible opportunity to put together a styled shoot with a team of vendors in Tuscany, Italy and today that shoot is being featured over at Hey Wedding Lady! Check out the full post here.

Using Tuscany’s famous green olive groves as our inspiration, Pisa wedding planner Luisa Colombini of La Bottega del Sogno and I chose I Felloni as our venue, a historic stone home out in the countryside that boasts not only olive groves but also a lovely vineyard and jaw dropping views over the Monte Pisano valley. We kept the styling soft, elegant, and feminine.

I loved our beautiful bride’s Italian-made dress: a delicate ivory wedding gown with hints of lace created by local designer Larimeloom. Our bride also stayed barefoot to fit the natural theme and honestly…aren’t barefoot brides just the best? ;)

The florist, Anna Porciatti of LaBotanique, is an absolute artist with fresh flowers — she put together the incredible flower crown featured here in about 10 minutes flat. So so gorgeous.

It was so fun to plan and carry out such a beautiful, romantic shoot in the Italian countryside, and I hope it inspires all you brides out there planning a destination wedding in Italy!

Last week I was babysitting my best friend’s darling boy, Oliver, and decided to do an impromptu photoshoot. This was my first time trying out baby photography and can I just say: I LOVED IT. Maybe baby portraits should be my new thing because seriously, I was smiling the whole time.

This kid is the sweetest little guy I’ve ever met. He’s 6 months old, smiley, really mellow, and observant — always looking around with his big blue eyes — and best of all, he’s rarely ever fussy. He’s super ticklish and let’s you snuggle for hours. Talk about #babygoals.

I made sure to capture his chunky little baby features because these are the things — chipmunk cheeks, dimply knuckles — that disappear so quickly as babies grow up, and I know I’d want to have them saved on film forever when I’m a mom!

I had so much fun shooting these portraits, so if you are looking for someone to capture your own little baby on camera, (especially you parents on Oahu, Hawaii) send me a message and let’s set up a time to chat!

Tuscany, Italy Wedding Photo Shoot: Sneak Peek!

Tuscany, Italy Wedding Photo Shoot: Sneak Peek!

Pretty, huh?? After months and months of planning, I set up and pulled off a styled shoot in Tuscany, Italy! It was my first time organizing something like this, and even though it was semi-stressful at times to coordinate all the moving parts, it all came together in the end and I think it turned out so beautifully!

I worked with an amaaazing group of wedding vendors, mostly locals from Italy. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Italy, I’d totally recommend any of the lovely, talented people on the list below. Here was the team:

Photography: Alexis Rose Photography // Wedding Planning, Stationery, and Design: La Bottega del Sogo // Flowers: LaBotanique // Wedding Venue: I Felloni  // Wedding Dress: Larimeloom // Bracelet: Calliopi Art // Favors: Le Jardin Des Delices // Black Diamond Ring: Claudette’s Treasures // Hair and Makeup: Pamela Iori // Model: Amanda Tremmel

If you follow me on Instagram (and if not: you should!), you will have already seen this sneak peek that I posted just as I was beginning to edit the photos. Well, I am now officially finished editing and am honestly really proud of how everything turned out. My team was fabulous, my model was beautiful, and I can now add a wedding photo shoot in Tuscany to my portfolio.

I’m trying to get the photos published online, so until then, this sneak peek will have to do! :)

Boheme Photo Workshop in Greece: Day 1

Boheme Photo Workshop In Greece: Day 1

Whew! What a whirlwind 24 hours it has been! Yesterday evening I left Pisa, Italy and got on a flight to Athens, Greece so that I could attend Boheme Workshop‘s five day wedding photography workshop on the Mediterranean coast.

Even though Italy is just next door to Greece, the best flights I could find had me arriving in Athens at 1 AM, so Day 1 of the workshop started with a long night of traveling for me. In the airport, I “slept” — or more precisely, laid down with my eyes closed for five hours — on a bench in McDonalds. Glamorous, right? The other attendees have also come from all over the world (so far I’ve met people from Canada, the Netherlands, and the States!) and have had equally exhausting journeys.

But one night of inconvenience was definitely worth it because tonight, THIS is where we’ll be sleeping…

Boheme Photo Workshop in Greece: Day 1

I could die.

We’re staying at the incredible Romanos Costa Navarino Resort in Messinia, and if that gorgeousness wasn’t enough, the Boheme team thoughtfully put together the most beautiful welcome baskets I’ve ever seen. Seriously swoon-worthy. I may or may not have already dipped into that little Greek honey pot (shhh).

Boheme Photo Workshop in Greece: Day 1

Later tonight, there’s a meet and greet with the Boheme team and other attendees. If tonight has set the tone for the next few days, I can’t wait to see what other amazing things we have in store!

Welcome basket by: Ribbon: Stella Wolfe // Calligraphy: September Letters // Styling: Tahnee Sanders, Therese De Jesus, Vasia Han, all in collaboration with Boheme Workshops.
