I’m Going to Greece!

I’m Going To Greece!

You know why I love Instagram? Because I am constantly discovering amazing people in the wedding industry who I might not have come across otherwise. Just a few months back, I came across an Instagram contest for a seat at a luxury photo workshop hosted by Boheme Studios and Wedding Sparrow in southern Greece.

Now, in just a few short days, I am off to JOIN that very same workshop! I cannot believe this is my real life.

The workshop will be five days of lectures from amazing photographers and editors, plus four or five photo shoots, all in the name of becoming a better wedding photographer. And (if that wasn’t amazing enough) all of us workshop attendees are staying at this gorgeous hotel: The Romanos Collection at Costa Navarino.

Yeah.

I could just about die, I’m so excited.

Can’t wait to share all the pretty photos here afterwards!

Our Wedding Video! [Kaneohe, Hawaii Destination Wedding]

Last week, I posted a few of my favorite photos from our wedding in Kaneohe, Hawaii, and this week I wanted to share our wedding video! Not everyone decides to hire a professional videographer on their wedding day, but take it from me, an uber-frugal budget queen: it is worth EVERY penny!

Our wedding video was one of the most expensive parts of our wedding and even knowing we dropped a couple grand on an eight minute video, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Every single time I watch our video I get chills. It’s such an amazing way to reminisce about our day. I promise it’s worth the money.

If you’re planning a destination wedding in Hawaii, I hope this helps you with a little inspiration! And be sure to check out our vendor list below for recommended vendors on Oahu.

Our Wedding Photos! [Kaneohe, Hawaii Destination Wedding]

On May 30, 2014, I said “I do” to my amazing husband David in the most beautiful place in the world. It’s been a little over a year since then, but I still find myself going back and looking at our photos all. the. time. so today I wanted to share some with you!

We had a budget destination wedding in Kaneohe, Hawaii (David’s hometown) at the YWCA Kokokahi, and it was really important for us to spend money on the things that were valuable to us and not worry about the things that weren’t. For David, having the perfect venue was his biggest priority. For me, photography was the number one thing I wanted to make sure we got right.

In the end, we did the whole wedding for about $6k, which if you’re planning a wedding right now you’ll know that is a major success, especially for a destination wedding! One of my favorite budget conscious and non-traditional aspects was that we had fancy pizza for dinner! And guys, it was so good. The bride’s choice option had ranch dressing drizzles, mmm.

(Side note: When is the rest of the world gonna get with the ranch program?? We’ve been living abroad for almost a year and a half, and in that time I think I’ve seen ranch dressing maybe one time…the great tragedy of international travel *sob*)

Everything — pizza included ;)  — was perfect on our wedding day. We hand picked every little detail and for me, it was really important to have those things documented. I felt very present on the actual wedding day and don’t think I suffered any of that crazy wedding-day-amnesia that people sometimes talk about, but having photographs that capture all the tiny moments of our day — the day that we worked so hard to put together — was so important to me. The photographs make my memories that much stronger.

Here you’ll find a few of my very favorite shots of our wedding day, and next week I’ll be posting our wedding video, so stay tuned!

P.S. Be sure to check out the vendor list at the bottom of this post for suggestions while you plan your own Oahu destination wedding!
